Vacuum therapy is a therapeutic procedure in which special vacuum electrodes create a suction cup effect . The vacuum created thereby is intended, among other things, to improve the microcirculation in the treated tissue and thus have a positive effect on the body.
More precisely, the Vacuumed device alternately creates a pressure reduction (depression) and subsequent pressure increase (compression) to stimulate the venous and lymphatic circulation. The vacuum under the special cups leads to an increased blood supply to the area being treated.
The goal of the treatment is to stimulate circulation, improve the oxygen supply to the tissue , and promote the elimination of toxins. The accelerated blood circulation is also intended to counteract venous congestion , which can promote, among other things, the formation of varicose veins and the resulting venous insufficiency .
The vacuum applications, which are carried out in combination with different types of stimulation currents , are performed using specially developed vacuum electrodes. These electrodes are connected via hoses to a vacuum pump (the Vacuumed device), which can create a negative pressure within the electrode cups.
During the phase of high negative pressure (depression), increased blood supply (hyperemia) is promoted, which, in combination with the effects of the different current stimulations, can contribute to therapeutic success.

Additionally, vacuum therapy is used for applications such as the treatment of cellulite , as it stimulates the blood circulation in the affected area and improves the lymphatic flow .
