Vacuum therapy is a therapeutic procedure in which special vacuum electrodes create a suction effect . The resulting vacuum is intended to improve microcirculation in the treated tissue, among other things, and thus produce positive effects on the body.
In more detail, the Vacuumed device alternately creates a decrease in pressure (depression) and a subsequent increase in pressure (compression) to stimulate venous and lymphatic circulation. The vacuum beneath the special cups leads to increased blood flow to the treated area.
The goal of the treatment is to stimulate circulation , improve oxygenation of the tissues , and promote the elimination of toxins . The accelerated blood circulation also counteracts venous congestion , which can promote the formation of varicose veins and the resulting venous insufficiency .
The vacuum applications, which are performed in combination with different types of stimulation current , are carried out using specially developed vacuum electrodes. These electrodes are connected via tubes to a suction pump (the Vacuumed device), which can create a negative pressure within the electrode shells.
In the phase of high negative pressure (depression), an increased blood supply (hyperaemia) is promoted, which, in conjunction with the effects of the different electrical stimulations, can contribute to the success of the therapy.

Additionally, vacuum therapy is used for applications such as the treatment of cellulite , as it stimulates blood circulation in the affected area and improves lymph flow .
