DiaCare 5000 - TECAR therapy with different frequencies.

Capacitive and resistive energy transfer

Promotion! We are currently offering this device at a very favorable price as part of the manufacturer's TECAR Reference Point promotion. Please contact us for more information.

The Globus DiaCare 5000 diathermy device has been completely redesigned by the manufacturer and now offers frequencies of 400, 700, and 1000 kHz in addition to the 470 kHz frequency. This allows the user to perform TECAR therapy much more effectively, depending on the tissue type and depth of the application area.

A few more basic facts: The DiaCare 5000 is a diathermy device for high-frequency thermotherapy, especially in the field of physiotherapy. The mechanism utilizes the body's own energy and the body's natural ability to regenerate body tissue and muscles. This is the fundamental principle behind the technique known as diathermy or TECAR therapy.

Diathermy is used in two different modes: capacitive and resistive. Both modes can be used with the DiaCare 5000. Therefore, the biological effect of diathermy can be more effectively tailored to the specific application. One is for tissue types with higher resistance (tissue with a lower water concentration) and the other for tissues with low resistance.

The DiaCare 5000 operates with a maximum power of up to 200W.

There are personalized applications in the field of rehabilitation, for example, as supportive therapy for shoulder problems, epicondylitis, back, hip, and ankle pain, and muscle disorders. In addition, there are various sports programs that can be used, among other things, for trauma and to support recovery after strenuous training sessions or competitions.

A large backlit display provides comprehensive information. The DiaCare 5000 diathermy device also features a rubberized keyboard and a color touchscreen. It comes with a practical yet elegant aluminum carrying case containing CapTrode and DualTrode electrodes.

CAPTRODE: A portable, monopolar handpiece with three heads of different sizes and a counter electrode for capacitive mode. Included in delivery.

Automatic frequency scanning : With automatic frequency scanning, it is possible to ensure that the heat applications have an optimal effect in all tissue layers during the treatment by automatically changing the frequencies.

Athermal applications : There are various pathologies in which heat application is counterproductive to the healing process. With the DiaCare 5000, athermal applications for biostimulation are now also possible, in which no heat is generated.

Transdermal transport of active ingredients : This special program supports the absorption of active ingredients in ointment form.

Freehand program: TECAR hands-free mode With this program and the Globus Hands Free Kit accessory, it is possible to run the diathermy programs independently, without the need for the therapist to guide the electrodes. The radio wave emission is programmed to prevent the electrodes from overheating. The hands-free program is further divided into three preset programs. The parameters of each program are determined by the distance between the two electrodes (resistive or capacitive and the counter electrode).

The short setting should be selected when the electrodes are close together. Specifically, this means a distance of approximately 20-30 cm between the counterplate (neutral electrode) and the resistive/capacitive electrode. This setting is used, for example, for treating the shoulder, where the electrodes are positioned in front of and behind the humeral head. The manufacturer recommends a medium setting with a distance between the electrodes of 30-60 cm, for example, for treating the entire back. Here, the counterplate is placed under the abdomen, while the back is treated with the active electrode.

The long setting is used for all applications where the electrode spacing is greater than 60 cm. An example is the treatment of the lower extremities, where an electrode is placed under the buttocks and then the soles of the feet, calves, and/or thighs are treated.

Each of the three settings has a different duty cycle to ensure good heat perception without overheating the tissue. The duty cycle interval is personalized for each program. The therapist should therefore select the setting appropriate for the respective treatment.

The advantage of freehand applications is that the therapist can still manually treat the area to be treated during the diathermy application or can still perform exercises with the patient.

Personalized applications:
Rehabilitation: Applications for shoulders, epicondylitis, back, hips, ankles, muscles, etc.
Sports: Reduction and prevention of trauma during sports activities and for faster regeneration

FAQs about TECAR therapy

TECAR application lumbago

How can you identify the handpiece for capacitive mode? The capacitive handpiece has a red cable/connector, while the resistive handpiece has a blue cable.

Does the resistive handpiece need to remain firmly in place on the treated area during diathermy treatment? The mobile electrode must be moved over the skin with the handpiece in circular motions to ensure even heat transfer to the treated tissue.

What is the optimal temperature for treatment? Generally, the temperature should be increased gradually. We recommend using the temperature scale in the manual. During treatment, the patient should be regularly asked about their temperature sensitivity, on a scale of 1 to 10. It is recommended not to exceed levels 5-6. If the patient indicates levels 7/8, the intensity can be reduced.

Can TECAR therapy also be used for fractures? Yes, the increase in temperature can contribute to pain reduction and have a positive effect on bone regeneration. Therefore, TECAR therapy can also be used very effectively for bone fractures.

Should the cream be applied only to the electrode head? A sufficient amount of special TECAR cream should always be present between the electrode and the skin to ensure the electrical charges are evenly transferred to the tissue. This also applies to the counterplate, where a sufficient amount of cream should also be applied. It is important to use a sufficient amount so that the electrical charges are transferred to the skin not only under the small diameter of the mobile electrodes, but across the entire area to be treated.

Is it possible to use regular cosmetic cream? We strongly advise against using regular skin creams or serums that aren't specifically approved for diathermy applications. A cream that isn't approved for TECAR applications can cause a sharp increase in impedance and prevent proper energy transfer, which can lead to superficial burns. However, it is possible to mix the conductive diathermy cream with a portion of other creams, as long as both components are thoroughly mixed.

Diathermy electrodes

When is the capacitive and when is the resistive mode used in TECAR therapy? When the capacitive mode is used, the electrical charges accumulate around the electrode, which is why the capacitive mode is primarily used for all muscle diseases. In contrast, in the resistive mode, the electrical charges accumulate near the joints, ligaments, and tendons. This mode is primarily used for conditions where a positive effect is expected in joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, capsulitis, etc.

What are the recommended power levels? The patient's perception of heat should never be too high. For both joint and tendon-muscle disorders, the heat should not exceed level 5/6 on the temperature scale. For treatment during the acute phase and for the treatment of edema, we recommend using a low power level.

Is a massage recommended after TECAR therapy? A traditional massage at the end of the treatment is certainly recommended, but it is not required. Massage helps relax muscle tissue, which can facilitate better fluid drainage.

How do you choose the right electrode size? The small electrode size (30 mm) is specifically designed for small areas and trigger point treatment. The medium electrodes (50 mm) are for areas such as the shoulders, ankles, hands, and neck. The large electrodes (70 mm) are designed for larger areas such as thighs, arms, legs, buttocks, and lumbar/dorsal muscles.

How long should different musculoskeletal groups be treated? For the treatment of small areas (shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, foot), we recommend approximately 15 minutes; for larger areas, we recommend approximately 30 minutes.

Is it possible to treat edema? Absolutely! Diathermy is a form of therapy suitable for the treatment of superficial and intra-articular edema. However, the energy level should be very low.

How many TECAR therapy sessions are recommended? This depends largely on the specific condition/trauma. Typically, 5-7 sessions guarantee a good result.

Can TECAR therapy be used during the acute phase? Yes, but to avoid potential adverse reactions, it is recommended that treatment not begin until 24 hours after the acute event. We recommend that the therapist conduct the initial sessions with very little energy.

Can epidermal thickness affect heat perception? Yes! If the patient's skin has a reduced thickness, heat perception is significantly greater than if the epidermis is thicker.
