StimVet 2000 - professional electrotherapy device for horses, dogs and cats
The Globus StimVet 2000 is a 4-channel electrotherapy device for muscular and analgesic electrotherapy of horses, dogs and cats.
In veterinary medicine, electrical current is used in the rehabilitation of injuries for two main purposes: for the electrical stimulation of excitable muscle tissue and for the reduction of pain perception.
The analgesic effect of the electrical currents is generated by membrane hyperpolarization based on the gate-control theory, complemented by hyperemia and the increase in morphine-like mediators.
The StimVet 2000 is a handy, battery-operated, 4-channel electrotherapy device with a wide range of preset programs. These programs are divided into the different categories of EMS, TENS, strengthening (sports), microcurrent, and denervated muscles.
For horses, dogs and cats there are animal-specific programs for the different types of current.
Electrotherapy promotes pain-relieving effects through various mechanisms. These effects are based on the control barrier theory, membrane hyperpolarization, local hyperemia, and the release of morphine-like mediators.
Electrotherapy is an important therapeutic intervention not only in human medicine but also in veterinary medicine. However, the veterinary physiotherapist should always perform electrotherapy treatments depending on the functional conditions of the muscle (normally innervated, partially or completely denervated) and the desired therapeutic goal.
The following are the main areas of application of electrotherapy in the treatment of horses, dogs and cats:
Osteoarthritis
