Ultrasound therapy device for veterinary medicine
Ultrasound therapy provides thermal and non-thermal mechanical stimulation of the treated tissue. These effects of ultrasound treatment can accelerate the healing of injured muscle, tendon, joint capsule, ligament and bone tissue.
The therapeutic effects of ultrasound therapy in animals include effects on cell metabolism and enzyme activity, increased blood circulation, improved elasticity and viscoelastic properties of the tissue, while also reducing pain perception.
The portable UltrasoundVet 4000, which can also be battery-operated with accessories, can be used to treat joint, muscle and tendon disorders in small animals and horses, as well as scar adhesions and stiffness in dogs, cats and horses.
General information on using the UltrasoundVet 4000
The UltrasoundVet 4000 ultrasound therapy device was developed for treating cats, dogs and horses. The programs available on the device are set to parameters that, according to veterinary literature, are intended to ensure a positive therapeutic outcome.
However, individual parameters, such as the duty cycle and output in W/cm², are indicative.
Therapeutic guidance for ultrasound therapy
Before performing ultrasound treatment with the UltrasoundVet 4000, it is essential to know the patient's medical history, any medications they may be taking, and the diagnosis, which should be as precise as possible. During therapy, it is advisable to monitor the patient's response and adjust the treatment as necessary.
If no significant changes in the animal's condition are observed after 3–4 consecutive days, it is advisable to reconsider the treatment parameters and/or the diagnosis. Ultrasound therapy should not be used on sedated animals, as their feedback is needed to adjust the parameters to their individual needs where necessary.
Preparing the patient for ultrasound treatment
It is recommended that the hair in the treatment area be shaved before starting ultrasound treatment, even if the patient's coat is very short (e.g. in Greyhounds or Dobermans). The skin should be cleaned with a non-irritating disinfectant solution before treatment.
Apply a sufficiently generous amount of ultrasound gel to the treatment area before starting therapy. Also ensure that a layer of gel remains between the applicator head and the skin throughout ultrasound therapy.
