Polyter Multitherapy System

Polyter Evo - with BORA - hansgrohe for the Tour de France.

Since the 2017 Tour de France, EME Physio has been the official supplier of the German professional cycling team BORA - hansgrohe. The team uses the Polyter EVO for mobile use during races and training camps.

In the meantime, various other cycling teams, the Polish national volleyball team, the Italian cycling federation and various professional teams from other disciplines have joined in and successfully use the Polyter Evo.

Physiotherapy device for competitive athletes

We are very pleased that the Central German Basketball Club is also successfully using the Polyter Evo for the physiotherapy treatment of its players.

With this device, EME-Physio has developed a novel concept for professional, mobile, modular physiotherapy applications. Installed in a robust and stylish O-design trolley, users have access to a treatment system developed according to the latest therapeutic findings. The trolley has recently been completely redesigned; the new material is even more robust and is now available in black.

The interesting thing about the system is that the trolley has space for four different therapy modules, which the therapist can select as needed. The modules can be purchased individually in addition to the basic system, allowing for a gradual expansion of therapy methods. A simple software update allows for subsequently purchased modules to be integrated into the basic system.

Multitherapy mode for optimal treatment success

In addition to the individual use of the individual modules: electrotherapy, ultrasound, low-power laser, high-power laser (4W), magnetic field, and Tecar therapy, it is also possible to use the multitherapy mode. In this mode, the treatment is selected based on the corresponding pathology rather than by manually selecting one of the six possible therapy modalities.

On the large, high-resolution color display, the corresponding pathology is selected from an extensive catalog depending on the body part and the system suggests a complete physiotherapy treatment in which up to 4 technologies can be combined in one therapy session.

The multitherapy concept was developed by EME Physio in collaboration with physicians and physiotherapists. The Polyter EVO allows for both in-house and home therapy.

The system was also specifically developed for the field of sports medicine and the specific requirements for the fastest possible rehabilitation after sports injuries. Whether in professional football, ice hockey, cycling, or other professional-level sports, the Polyter Evo System is a revolution for the sports medicine departments of professional clubs.

At away games, training camps, cycling races, etc., a full range of therapies is available at any time. TECAR therapy, in particular, is suitable for all types of trauma. Now, therapists can also use this highly effective therapy on the go. With the Polyter Evo version with integrated battery, the user can work for 4-5 hours without a power supply. A power connection is only required when using the magnetic field therapy and TECAR modules.

In principle, it's always advantageous to have a TECAR device on-site at a major race. However, with the Polyter EVO, we're not limited to TECAR therapy alone. Thanks to the modular system, we can use additional therapy modalities such as ultrasound and EMS depending on the race situation, for example, after a rider crashes or for other problems.

For us, the BORA-hansgrohe medical team, the Polyter EVO is the perfect all-in-one system for all therapeutic and regenerative needs. Thanks to the carrying case, we can easily take the device to races or training camps. Thanks to the integrated battery pack, we can treat our riders in our team bus immediately after they cross the finish line, without the need for an external power supply.

The Diathermy (TECAR) module provides users with a relatively new, yet extremely effective, therapeutic method. It releases energy within biological structures, activating the body's natural anti-inflammatory and regenerative processes.

In practice, this means that the therapist has a handpiece with different electrode sizes at his disposal and a counter plate that is placed more or less close to/under the area to be treated.

The power generator in the TECAR module uses long-wave radio frequencies in the range of 0.4 and 0.5 MHz, with a variable power of up to 200 W. This way, no external energy is released; only endogenous energy is released within the tissue. This energy is generated by the forces of attraction and repulsion generated between the capacitor plates.

Application possibilities of diathermy

Capacitive/resistive TECAR Therapy (TECAR stands for "Transfer Electrical Capacitive And Resistive") can stimulate the body's natural repair processes and shorten recovery time. Through the electromagnetic energy/tissue interaction, a temperature increase occurs within different tissue types in a controlled and uniform manner.

This electromagnetic interaction creates an ion flow with microhyperemia, releasing endogenous substances (mainly endorphins and cortisone) that can have a positive effect on pain, edema, and inflammation. The increased blood flow to the treated tissues is achieved through the increase in temperature and indirectly through the increased oxygen demand.

In capacitive mode, the charge density increases below the electrode, particularly at the level of soft tissue such as muscle. In resistive mode, however, the highest charge occurs in tissues with the greatest resistance, such as bone, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments, which lie between the resistive electrode and the counterplate.
